"THE START OF IT ALL"
Back in May I had been trying to find something that got me more into my degree, made me more "exercise sciencey" if you will. My friend Michelle had ran half marathons before with her Dad and told me I should tag along. So I registered...for my first running race EVER...13.1 miles...why not. So that summer I trained and September got there. I was nervous and excited, I had no idea that this one event was about to change my life forever. I started and finished in 2:14...not too shabby for my first race ever! My grades in school improved, I didn't drink or go out as much in college, and I lost weight and got in great shape. From that point on it was go time...my life was consumed by running, which I quickly learned that there must be balance.
Instead of adding all my races since I am "back blogging" I will give you the quick rundown. From September to February I lost about 10 pounds, ran 30-40 miles a week, centered my life around running, lifted heavy, did HIIT 2 times a week, and went from a 10:23 pace (in a half) to a 7:49 pace (in a 14k (8.7 miles)). After the 14k, my leg hurt and I had a bad feeling about it but it would come and go..then got a little worse so I backed off for a couple of weeks. Then it was time for shamrock...continue reading above.
