As I sit to right this it is hard to come up with the exact words to describe this race...it was full of pain, happiness, self defeat, and pride. How is it possible to go through so many different emotions in one race you ask? Well Spartans can do that to you.
For the first two miles my calves were so tight and cramping, if there had been someone around I actually considered for a minute or two to call the race and drop out...no one was around and when I saw a volunteer I couldn't actually go through with it. I knew I had it me. After about mile two they started to loosen up and then it was game time! AROO!
So obstacle recap! I was nervous about the monkey bars and cargo monkey bars before the race because I have failed the monkey bars the past two Spartans and had to do those burpees...Crystle kept telling me to just relax and it would be fine. Before I began the monkey bars and cargo net bars I took a deep breath and composed myself and I NAILED IT!!! I GOT THEM BOTH! To my surprise I also got the traverse wall for the first time EVER! I almost got the Spear Throw and the rope climb; the rope climb was at the end and I didn't have enough strength to complete it more than half way. I ended this race with 65 burpees and a time of 1:33.
This race was a HUGE wake up call for what I need to improve on for VA and Vermont training. But overall I am beyond happy with myself, I went and gave everything I had. It is truly amazing at what my body can accomplish when I put my mind to it. Over the past month I have been going to HPI and DWEP training has transitioned into Spartan Style training and all of my hard work is beginning to show, I have to keep on working hard and eventually I will earn my spot closer to the top of the elite heats.
ALSO A HUGE CONGRATS TO A NEW SPARTAN NATASHA!!! SO PROUD OF YOU GIRL!!! :D
