So last Saturday I decided to go on a run and well jump around and "Spartan Train". I jumped onto a stump and then jumped back down....rolled my ankle on a root and fell back on my butt! HARD! After lying down for 2-3 minutes I got up and stood there..then proceeded to run. After I got stuck in mud the jolt of stopping made me realize that I should NOT be running! So I headed back home and iced my butt and ankle.
The days following I couldn't run, lift, bend, sit, or really do anything without pain. I got a donut to sit on, took NSAIDS, and iced for the past week. It is rather funny actually and of course I would do something like this. So I let the initial swelling to go down and started exercising on Tuesday, I was able to swim for an hour; I could not flip turn or do breast and butterfly stroke. Wednesday I was able to lift lightly (upperbody) and bike for 5 min.
Now I am able to incline walk, lift upper body lightly, and bike. I am healing and making progress but I am ready to be 100% again. On Friday I made the call to get out of the CT Spartan race next weekend. It is important to know when to take a step back.
